OBC Field Trip No. 8 (Columbus Brewing Company)
In 'Cbus' on other business, OBC took the opportunity to visit Columbus' oldest brewery for an evening of food and fellowship. The Columbus Brewing Company, originally founded in 1830, is located in the historic Brewery District of Columbus. While #ohiocraftbeer is experiencing sizeable growth, CBC has been helping lead the charge since its resurrection in 1988.
Not just a brewery, CBC offers an award winning menu prepared in its scratch kitchen (actually, the brewery and the restaurant are separate businesses). Options a plenty, we settled on the Santa Fe wood-fired pizza. The only problem - we didn't order two!
The visit would not be complete without a sampling of CBC's finest. Supportive of the entire State, all taps poured Ohio beer. Several were sampled, including CBC's own Summer Teeth, a crisp unfiltered Kellerbier.
Already a nationally top-40 producing microbrewery, Columbus Brewing Company recently purchased the 50,000 sq. ft. former home of Hill Distributing Co. in the city's west side. A $5 million investment ensures CBC will continue to lead the charge for the next 20 years.
